Giraffe

The giraffe's anatomy is naturally whimsical. How could it not be a part of my portfolio?

For this piece, I hand-paint the spots before folding. Giraffe, especially larger versions, require more metal and even strategic application of foam insulation to achieve structural stability. This is definitely a piece where I spend more time painting, wiring, gluing, and balancing than I spend folding.

In 2023, giraffe got a major do-over with a more balanced body, a more graceful and sculptable neck, and a more refined face.

Giraffe has also been super-sized and used as an armature for concrete sculpture.
