Koi fish (carp) are symbols of tenacity, courage, luck, prosperity, solidarity. The feng shui energy of a koi pond is considered very positive and auspicious. In Buddhist meditation, koi fish are models for maintaining focus on inner peace and enlightenment even when surrounded by turbulence and chaos.

Friendship koi are folded from 12" x 30" rectangles, hand-dyed. The paper is dyed before folding, so it is kind of fun to see what color pattern presents after folding all the scales.
